Massage Oil Used In Massage And Ways To Make It

Scented Massage oil does enhance the massage just because of the scent. They also help the massage to go smoothly. A little oil applied to the skin helps the hands move smoothly and gives the massage therapist the ability to work the muscles better than if they did not use oil. Most oils used are pure oils and are usually cold pressed. Most therapists come with an arsenal of oils that will compliment anyone but you can also make your own massage oils.

Almond oil is used most frequently in massage oils. The reason is because it tends to make the skin soft and helps the skin take in moisture. Anyone with a dry skin problem should use almond oil. This is a great carrier oil, or one that will take on the scent of something else. The oil is light and does not puddle on the skin and it has very little scent of its own. If you have allergic reactions to eating any type of nut it is probably best to avoid almond oil.

Another good oil that is good to use as a carrier oil is Apricot oil. This oil with moisturize the skin so if you have dehydrated and extremely dry skin this is the oil for you. Apricot oil nourishes the skin and it will help to soothe away any inflammations. Those that have sensitive skin will not get a reaction from this oil in natural form.

Grapeseed oil is one that can be used for older skin that is becoming leathery with age. It has a regenerative quality and will bring the skin back to the suppleness it deserves. You can mix this oil with any of the other ones that are on the market today. It particularly goes well with almond oil. It has the added benefit of having several vitamins and minerals within the composition of the oil.

Jojoba oil is safe to use on skin that has blemishes because it will control them and it has great moisturizing properties. It is great on all skin types. It penetrates the skin very readily and has a light aroma making it a good carrier oil. This oil lasts a long time before getting rancid so it is a good oil to use if you do not need it frequently.

Those that suffer with diseases of the skin such as eczema need to make massage oils with Avocado oil. This oil is also expensive so it should be mixed with one of the other oils. This oil will actually start to regenerate healthy skin cells after the old ones have died away. It is great to use on those that have been out in the sun too long and have sun damage to their skin.

Wheat germ oil is also a great oil used in massage oils. It is the fountain of youth for many because it will make your skin seem much younger than it is. It contains vitamin E that will heal any scars or marks on the skin. This oil is very sticky so it needs to be mixed with another oil so that it will spread and soak into the skin better. There are those that say this oil will even enhance circulation.

This is just a few of the oils that can be used in massage. There is a host of others. Just go to the local health food store to find what is available. Then you can actually start to make your own scented oils by using a carrier oil and some essential oils. Just combine 4 tablespoons of the carrier oil and about 10 drops of two or three different essential oils. A good choice is lavender and rosemary. You can make them in any scent you wish and the carrier oil will do the trick in relaxing muscles and soothing the skin.
